Housing Service Registration
GCIL Housing Priority Groups eligible for housing support
The following groups of people are considered High Priority for support from GCIL. They will be considered eligible for our housing advocacy service and for a housing surgery or home visist from an Adviser (if peron cannot come into the office due to impairment).
A) We will work with people 65 or over whose discharge from hospital is delayed or is likely to be delayed due to a housing related issue. Home address must be within Glasgow City Council postcode area.
We will work with people 65 or over who have been moved from hospital to a nursing / residential home but would like to return to the community if suitable housing were available to them. Home address must be within Glasgow City Council postcode area.
B) We will work with disabled people referred by health professional or hospital social worker who are either:
- in hospital but need help with housing issue so that they can return home or
- have been released from hospital but who have housing needs which if met would make them less likely to need hospital care in the future
C) We will work with disabled people in housing need who are "homeless" and help them find a suitable housing solution. By homeless we mean either people who are literally "roofless" they do not have a home of their own, or people who cannot access an essential facility e.g. toilet/bathroom or kitchen facilities. This would also include people who cannot enter or leave their home at all due to access problems. Home address must be within Glasgow City Council postcode area.
