Our Disability Equality Awareness training has been designed
with housing providers, local authorities and health boards in
mind, providing an opportunity for staff to explore good practice
around service delivery and equality of opportunity for disabled
people.
Disability Equality Awareness Training
Aims
To equip staff with an overview of good practice enabling them
to work more confidently and effectively with disabled people as
customers and service users.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course staff will be able to:
- feel more confident about language relating to disabled
people.
- identify barriers that disabled people face and understand how
good practice can make a difference to disabled people.
- understand the social model of disability
- discuss some of the concerns they may have when offering a
service to disabled people.
Format
GCIL training is delivered by experienced disabled trainers. The
course will be as participative as possible with members of the
group involved through discussion and small group activities.
Length of course: Full Day or
Half-Day
